Sarah Olson Joins Staff in New Position

I am pleased to announce that Sarah Olson (Williams) will be joining Camp Arcadia’s full-time staff as the Donor Relations and Communications Coordinator (DRCC), a new position at Camp Arcadia. Sarah has a long history at Camp Arcadia as a life-long camper and summer staffer. Sarah, who grew up in Carmel, Indiana, served on Camp’s program staff in the summer of 2009 and held the assistant program director position during the summers of 2010 and 2011. Her family also has a cottage in Arcadia.

Sarah lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband Tanner Olson and their Goldendoodle Pancake. Tanner is an author, poet and speaker who shared his poetry last summer at Camp Arcadia during the morning Dean’s program. After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 2012, Sarah served as an elementary school teacher in Nashville and Austin, Texas. Most recently she held positions as an executive assistant at the Texas Church Extension Fund and the Pastoral Leadership Institute in Nashville where she has experience in development and promotions.

“I am thrilled to bring Sarah on board. As I was looking to fill this new position I was looking for someone who knew Camp Arcadia’s ministry, was relationally focused, and has extraordinary project management and communication skills. Sarah is a perfect fit for this position. Also, as the person who takes a lead in Camp’s development efforts, I was looking for a partner to help me further our efforts to advance Camp’s mission. Sarah brings so much to the position and I can’t wait to serve with her,” said executive director Chip May.

“Camp Arcadia has been such a gift and blessing to my family for many years. I’m thrilled at the opportunity to serve and partner with you, the Camp Arcadia family, as we invest in a thriving future for Camp that will continue to bless families and individuals for many generations to come!”

The new Donor Relations and Communications Coordinator position will be a remote position during the off-season, meaning that Sarah will continue to live in Nashville. During Camp’s season, Sarah will make several trips to Camp Arcadia. She will start on April 12.

Camp Arcadia’s full-time staff is now complete. Last year when the pandemic hit, Camp let go its recently hired operations director, as its financial situation was unclear. As a result, Jess McCallum, Camp’s program director, fulfilled many of the operations director responsibilities last summer and excelled at it. This has resulted in her taking on a new position at Camp Arcadia as the assistant director. Development (donor relations) and communications were identified as areas that still needed increased staffing capacity.

“Camp Arcadia has been such a gift and blessing to my family for many years. I’m thrilled at the opportunity to serve and partner with you, the Camp Arcadia family, as we invest in a thriving future for Camp that will continue to bless families and individuals for many generations to come!” commented Sarah on her new position at Camp Arcadia.

Join me in welcoming Sarah to Camp Arcadia’s staff.
