Meet the New Ark Director, MaryAnn Unger!

We are thrilled to announce the new Ark Director, MaryAnn Unger! MaryAnn has been part of the Camp community for many years, and we are delighted that she will take the helm of our beloved Ark! Read about her history of coming to Camp and how this is a special place for her:

When did you start coming to Camp?

“I had the privilege to have the opportunity to start coming to Camp when I was just a few years old. My parents, siblings and relatives were all happy and excited when we had opportunities to be at Camp. As time went on, we were blessed to bring our 11 children and currently our 22 grandchildren.”

Have you worked on staff before?

“Having being blessed when my dad built a cottage in the Colony when I was a sophomore in high school and was thrilled when I received a phone call and was asked if I was able and willing to work on staff the summer in 1979, I also was able to help in the original Ark program, I still love the wooden seats and the joy to share Camp and God’s love for the little ones.”

Another special blessing was getting to know Bob Unger as we worked on staff and ended up becoming another of Camp’s couples who found their spouses at Camp and now, our youngest daughter Emma, who also was a Camp staffer who will  be marrying her fiancé in August.”

What are you excited about in this role?

“I’m looking forward to working with the little ones in the Ark again. I believe Camp Arcadia will always be a very special place in our hearts and I will be grateful to be blessed having time spent in Camp Arcadia and is blessed to learn so much through Deans and the love and knowledge they shared with so many people. There are no better friends than Arcadia friends.”
