Meet the Leaders: Department Heads

We are excited to welcome our summer staff for Camp Arcadia’s 100th season! Among incoming staff are our Department Heads, who act as role models for their fellow staffers, embody the mission of Camp Arcadia, and serve as liaisons between our summer staffers and management staff to create an encouraging, Christ-centered community at Camp all summer long. Learn more about our 2022 Season Department Heads below:

Will McCardy, Assistant Cook

Connection to Camp: I got connected to Camp from a family friend who convinced me to come for Omega Week a few years ago, then I worked on staff last summer, and I’m back for another summer.
Bio: My home town is Santa Clarita, CA, which is about an hour north of Los Angeles. I come from a family of five: my two parents, an older brother, and a younger sister. Some of my hobbies include surfing, snowboarding, fishing, video games and just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. I currently attend College of the Canyons and my major is Liberal Arts in Sciences, but I’m working on my prerequisites so that I can transfer to a nursing school.
Looking Forward To This Summer: What I’m most excited for this summer is being with the friends that I made last summer and making even more life-long friendships, as well as the opportunity to grow my faith in an amazing place.

Nolan Janke, Trading Post Manager

Connection to Camp: My connection to camp runs back to the 90s. My parents were bright eyed, and bushy tailed taking their first child (my older brother!) to church where they met an expecting couple… they hit it off instantly! Sooner or later those new friends brought my parents to a little town named Arcadia. Fast forward 25 years and a once budding friendship is now a lifelong “framily” and Family Weeks at Camp Arcadia have been the highlight of my year since I was born.
Bio: I am from the booming metropolis of Canton, MI where I was raised by my mom and dad, Nancy and Todd.  I share the “youngest” title with my twin brother Nathan while Matthew, Olivia then Natalie are the leaders of the pack. I love spending time with my family even more now that we are all under different roofs.  I am a shameless vegetarian and love trying new meals. I will be going into my 2nd year at Michigan State University (Go Green!) studying Electrical Engineering and am interested in manufacturing when I graduate.
Looking Forward To This Summer: Meeting people! Building new relationships with both staff and guests is what really excites me about this summer. There is a buzz in the air with the upcoming 100th season and I can’t wait to share my love for camp through conversation with campers and my fellow staffers.

Cloe Smith, Assistant Program Director

Connection to Camp: I got connected to Camp through my school advisor when looking for an internship. I have been on site since January and will be staying till the end of the season.
Bio: I am from Napoleon, Ohio and went to college at Concordia University Ann Arbor. I studied Family Life with a minor in Youth Ministry. Some of my hobbies are playing tennis and Rocket League.
Looking Forward To This Summer: I am looking forward to meeting all the other staff and guests and seeing seeing Camp in full swing!
