We are excited to welcome Leah Sallach to Camp Arcadia’s management team as the operations director. Leah, who is from the Buffalo, NY area, spent eight years at Pioneer Camp & Retreat Center in NY as their program director. She brings a wealth of experience with managing staff, developing and implementing programs, marketing, and assisting in fundraising. She was an education major at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI.

“I love outdoor ministry and the way God is present when people gather in His creation.  I am excited to join the Camp Arcadia team because of their dedication to outdoor ministry, their long history of serving families, and most of all to continue to follow God’s call to serve His people.  I am so looking forward to being a part of this incredible ministry team and to get to participate in the faith and fun that happens at camp each summer!” remarked Leah about her new position.

Thankfully, Leah, coming from Buffalo, NY, is no stranger to living on a great lake or enduring snowy winters. “Having spent years living near Lake Erie, I love being near the water. I really enjoy playing outside in all seasons; kayaking, swimming, biking, hiking, and snowshoeing .  I look forward to exploring all the new things that Northwest Michigan has to offer.”

As the daughter of a pastor and Lutheran school teacher, Leah was blessed to grow up in a Christian faith-filled home. Nonetheless, her experience at camp played an important role in her faith development.  “My own camp experiences both as a camper and as a summer staffer helped me to make my faith my own.  I loved that there was a place where I could be myself, where I could sit with others to explore God’s Word, and where I could feel God’s blessings all around me. It has been one of my greatest joys to be able to serve in outdoor ministry so that I could help others to have that same experience, the same opportunity to hear God’s Word, to grow in faith, to make lifelong friends, and to experience God’s creation close up.”, says Leah.

Executive Director, Chip May, comments on Leah as the new operations director; “I have been privileged to know Leah for 8 years through the National Lutheran Outdoors Ministry Association (NLOMA). She brings an abundance of professional experience, a passion for camp ministry, and a great work ethic. I have always been impressed with Leah’s appreciation of how camp ministry impacts faith development. I am thrilled to have her join Camp’s management team.”

We give God thanks for bringing Leah to Camp Arcadia and ask you to join us in praying for Camp and her as she becomes a part of the Camp Arcadia family.
