Family Matters – A History of Generosity

Jim and Margaret Zehnder

Dan Zehnder and his family have generously donated to Camp Arcadia to support the building of the caretaker’s barn and the purchasing of a skid steer. Dan and his wife Cindie, live in New Berlin, WI. They have four grown children. Dan is currently a member of the Lutheran Camp Association board of directors. Here is a reflection from Dan about how his parents taught him from an early age to value giving and family.

My parents, Jim and Margaret, taught us from when we were young to live with “open hands.” To give in praise and glory to our King and, in the process, be a blessing to those around us.

At the heart of it all, we want to say “Thank you.” Thank you to Mom and Dad for being the faithful teachers you were our entire lives. Your lessons of love, kindness and generosity have endured.

When the opportunity came up for the barn and the skid steer, these not only touched our hearts as giving opportunities because they were tied to our family work history, but also great opportunities to share all the Lord has done for us in a way that will, we pray, be a blessing to many for many many years to come.

At the heart of it all, we want to say “Thank you.” Thank you to Mom and Dad for being the faithful teachers you were our entire lives. Your lessons of love, kindness and generosity have endured.

Thank you also to my parents for stressing the value of family. My Mom always said, “Let’s be family!” Family matters and Camp Arcadia feeds family in body, mind and spirit. We pray that Camp Arcadia continues to bring families together, gathered around the cross of Christ, for many generations to come.
