Beach & SOA Update – January 8, 2018

Snow and ice build up on Camp’s beach in front of the Inn.

I have never been so excited to see ice build up on Camp’s shoreline. Over the past few weeks frigid temperatures and lots of snow have made their way to Northwest Michigan causing Camp’s shoreline to develop significant ice. This protects our shoreline causing the waves to break off-shore. Not one to normally pray for a cold winter, I have found myself doing just that. Let’s hope and pray the cold temps continue.

As previously reported, we have signed a contract with Team Elmer’s out of Traverse City to do the project. They have already created the stone needed for our rock revetment and will start to bring it to Camp and store it here for the project. We still await the Army Corps permit. We have made progress with the permit though and hope for a late January/early February approval.

We have around $2.2 million pledged towards the Spirit of Arcadia Campaign goal of $2.5 million with just over $1 million received. It is amazing to see how those that love and treasure Camp Arcadia’s ministry have supported this campaign. We will be going public with the Spirit of Arcadia Campaign this spring. If you are interested in making a pledge, please contact me at chip@camp-arcadia.com or (231) 889-4361.
