The Wonders of Camp Arcadia: Wonder #7

Wonder #7: Mom Enjoys Meal With Family Without Trip to Grocery Store or Hours in Kitchen

Melissa takes pride in being the one to cook for his family of four. Cooking is often enjoyable for her, but even with that, cooking day-in and day-out can turn into a grind.

“It seems like it takes a modern miracle for everyone to get to sit down at the table together these days,” Melissa commented.

Enter Camp Arcadia. Melissa was shocked by all the free time she had to enjoy her vacation when she didn’t spend it at the grocery, planning meals, cooking or cleaning up after cooking. Not only that, but she was able to sit down and enjoy the meal with her family while someone else catered to the requests for “more garlic bread” and “a little more milk, please.”

“And when we were finished eating, we just… left!” Melissa gushed to a friend after returning from Arcadia. “I didn’t wash a dish all week. It was a real life vacation.” Melissa’s friend has already requested a brochure for next year’s retreats.

This article is part of our series, “The 16 Wonders of the Camp Arcadia Experience.” Some heartfelt and some silly, each of these stories reminds us of one of the blessings we receive through the Camp Arcadia experience – like alleviation from everyday responsibilities!
