We are excited to announce that Andrew Hillary will be Camp Arcadia’s new food service director. Andrew received his Bachelors of Baking and Pastry Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in 2016. Upon graduation he has been serving as a pastry chef at Pistacia Vera – Pastry Kitchen and Cafe in German Village, Ohio, near Columbus. Prior to culinary school Andrew served six years in the United States Navy as an Arabic translator.
Andrew and his wife, Ariella, also a culinary school graduate, will be moving to Manistee towards the end of the month. She will be beginning her job as the new dining room supervisor at Arcadia Bluffs. Andrew has already started to learn about Camp Arcadia and our food service program. He will have about a week or so to work with Kurt Harvey before Kurt’s last day on May 5. We also have some former Camp Arcadia kitchen staff who will be helping in May and June to help with the transition.
Andrew shared his thoughts about joining the management team at Camp Arcadia, “For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to make a difference in the world. Being a part of the Camp Arcadia team is going to give me the ability to finally make that dream come true.”
“I am excited to welcome Andrew to Camp Arcadia. I love the passion he has for food and for sharing that passion with others. He will be a great addition to the staff. I am confident that with the strong foundation that Kurt has created Andrew can continue Camp’s tradition of providing wonderful meal experiences.” commented Executive Director, Chip May.
Please join us in welcoming Andrew to Camp Arcadia’s family.
