Food Service Leadership Change

We are pleased to announce that Taryn Woell will assume the position of Interim Chef beginning June 9. Taryn takes over for Justin Baxter who left Camp’s employment on June 2. Taryn is a lifelong member of the Camp Arcadia family and recently spent three summers on the kitchen team at Camp Arcadia, the last two in leadership roles. “We are blessed to have Taryn’s talent and energy as we make this transition,” said Executive Director Chip May. “Justin had great culinary skills, yet the Camp setting was not the right fit. We wish him and his family all the best. Taryn is an outstanding fit for us as a 4th generation Arcadian with food service experience.” Taryn, a recent graduate of Augustana College, brings a passion for Camp Arcadia’s ministry as well as strong leadership and culinary skills.

“After a lot of consideration and many prayers, I am truly honored and blessed to be coming back to Camp not just as a camper or staffer, but as the new interim Chef,” commented Taryn. “God truly put his hand on my shoulder and directed me exactly where I need to be. I am so excited to spend the season with the staff, campers, and volunteers. My passions to teach, learn, and cook will all be utilized this season, and I cannot wait to see where God will lead me and the staff this summer!”

We are grateful to all of the people who helped maintain a quality dining experience during this transition. Special thanks to the entire kitchen team, specifically kitchen leaders – Brynn Williams, Jacob Frederick, Sophia Salamone, and Emil Banaszak for their strong leadership. Additionally, we thank management team members Leah Sallach (Operations Director) and Jess McCallum (Program Director), fall staff members Barb Mizner and Sandy Hodges, and volunteers Mark Banaszak and Katrina Stierholz . “I have been deeply moved by the support, encouragement, and hard work of so many Arcadians to make sure our guests’ expectations are met and surpassed during this transition,” commented Chip.

We ask that you keep Taryn, the kitchen staff, and the rest of the Camp Arcadia staff in your prayers as we make this transition.
