Special Announcement from Executive Director, Chip May:
I am excited to announce that Rev. Jason Bauer will be Camp Arcadia’s new program director. Currently Jason serves as assistant pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen, MI where he has led their youth and Christian education programs for the past 10 years. He also served four summers on program staff at Lutheran Valley Retreat in Colorado, where he is originally from. He and his wife Laura live in Interlochen with their four children (Micah – 10, Elijah – 7, Madeline – 4, and Jonah – 6 months). Jason, upon graduating from Concordia University Nebraska, served as a Director of Christian Education (DCE) at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN for two years.
Jason’s connection to Camp Arcadia began three years ago when he and his family attended a family week retreat. “To be at camp for a family week was to step into life done differently. I quickly saw the potential for Camp Arcadia to be a powerful ‘anchor point’ for the faith life of my children, my wife and myself,” recalls Jason. Since then, they have continued to attend family weeks, bringing with them friends and family. They became members of the Lutheran Camp Association in 2013.
Last summer Jason served as Staff Chaplain during staff training, leading the staff in Bible studies and worship. Referring to his time with the staff Jason said, “I was impressed by the maturity and commitment of the staff at Arcadia. They came committed to be part of a Camp that puts people first. This adds immeasurable value to the camp experience.” This year, he served as Dean for the first Fall Confirmation Retreat and was a part of the group of pastors that helped Camp create the Fall Confirmation retreats last year.
I am excited to welcome Jason to the Camp Arcadia management team. His experience working with youth and families as a pastor and DCE, plus his background in camping ministry, gives him a strong foundation to excel as a program director at Camp Arcadia.
“Camp Arcadia is a place where people of all ages connect with their families, others and God in truly unique ways. It is an honor to be Camp Arcadia’s program director and I look forward to serving God through the ministry of this special place!”
Jason plans to start serving at Camp Arcadia on December 1. Please keep Camp, Jason and his family in your prayers as we make the transition.
