Hiking is a great way to get in some exercise while still enjoying beautiful scenery. It can be a relaxing yet active way to spend time with loved ones! This is why Camp Arcadia was so excited to offer the brand new Green Point Hike to the the afternoon program.
“The Green Point Hike offers almost three miles of trail winding through the Green Point Dunes Nature Preserve – one of the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy preserves in the area,” said Program Director Kyle DeWees.
This hike is different from Camp’s other available hikes because it takes hikers directly down to the beach, providing alternative views of the surrounding area.
“We loved the beautiful views of the lake, and it was great to end up down on the beach,” said first-time Green Point hiker Kristen Musgrove. “It’s a wonderful new addition to Camp Arcadia, and I’m sure we will be going on this hike for many, many years.”
The hike is a combination of exercise and enjoyment, and is a great way for families to spend time together.
“It’s a really nice hike, and I’m really glad I went. I got to walk, talk, and even eat a fresh raspberry!” said hiker Krista Spaletto. “I will definitely be going back, and bringing all my friends!”
Camp Arcadia offers a variety of hiking options for a few reasons. Of course it is important to utilize the natural beauty of the area, and it is also important to remember that each and every guest vacations in their own way.
“Camp Arcadia is blessed to be located in such a unique and beautiful part of our country.Since God has provided these wonderful gifts and opportunities, I want to provide the opportunity for guests to experience them,” said DeWees. “Also, part of what makes a vacation at Camp Arcadia so special is that guests can pursue the rest and renewal they need, in their own unique way. Because each person is different, we want to provide a variety of methods to be refreshed and reconnected with our marvelous Creator.”
That being said, Camp Arcadia encourages hikers of all experience levels to try out the new Green Point Hike. It could be a fun new adventure or the start of a new family tradition!
“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go on this hike at first, but I’m glad I did. I was worried it would be too strenuous for me, but then it wasn’t,” said Musgrove. “It ended up being very relaxing.”
