Wonder #15: It's Better Than Disney
We all know where the happiest place on Earth is…. Or do we? In a poll of children who have experienced both places, 9/10 kids would choose a vacation at Camp Arcadia over a vacation at Disney.
“Disney is cool,” said Ben, age 11, “But archery is low key fire and I don’t get to do that anywhere except Camp.” (In conferring with the youths, this means he really likes it.)
Lillian, 7, also agrees. “I love Moana, but Camp Arcadia is my favorite place in the whole wide world!!” When asked about her favorite ways to spend time at Camp, Lillian lists jewelry-making in the craft shop, playing on the playground with new friends, and getting ice cream in the Trading Post.
When asked why they chose Disney over Camp Arcadia, the 10th kid simply stated, “Rides.” And yeah. We get that.
Why do kids love Camp Arcadia so much? Chip May, Executive Director explains, “It’s a place where kids get to have a lot of freedom and old fashioned fun that they don’t always have in the real world. Combine that with special family time, lots of activities, and ice cream on demand… it’s basically the recipe for happy kids.”
