Wonder #12: The "Right Time - Right Place - Right Space" Spiritual Learning
Have you ever sat in the Dean & Lecturer’s Program and thought, “Wow, that was exactly what I needed to hear,” or “Are they speaking directly to me?” Or have you ever learned or re-learned something through a conversation with someone on the Patio or over a cup of coffee on the Front Porch?
We connect with Kelly Culler and Kristin McAllan, who share their experiences with “Right Time – Right Place – Right Space” learnings at Camp.
From Kelly Culler:
From Kristin McAllan:
You are correct in your assessment that we have experienced several shifts in thinking as a result of our time at Camp. We have learned so much over the years that I would be hard pressed to put dates and names to those teachable moments.
I do remember a specific year when John Nunes was teaching on serving those “in the margins” of society and that it coincided with my time of service in children’s ministry (at our church in St. Luke, Haslett under Pastor Dave Davis). As is true with so many of our weeks at Camp, I returned to my job renewed, refreshed and full of wild ideas for serving our wild and wonderful God.
I have found that Camp time is always like that. I come home fired up, wondering why I have been so slow to love and forgive, wanting to be more inclusive and less polarized. I feel that my faith has grown up at Camp. There is always an idea to challenge me there. (I am including a picture of the notes from this year’s week with Gabe Kasper and Heath Carter. I tried to use some of the Visual Faith Ministry ideas – I feel like it summarizes this well.)
I would also say, that as great as the ideas and topics have been at Camp every year, the PEOPLE who are there make the biggest impact. Wherever we find Camp people, we hear the same story: Jesus’ love has touched them using Camp Arcadia.
When we had our housefire in 2023, in real time, our Camp family loved and served us as our world was crumbling. Real, tangible love was offered. Jesus in human form can be found in the People of Camp Arcadia. We are so very blessed to have found our home there.
These are just two snapshots of how God uses Camp Arcadia to bless families and individuals each and every year. We are grateful for your partnership in what God is doing through Camp.
We have a $150,000 Matching Gift Challenge active now through December 31, 2024! If you’d like to join us as a partner in ministry, consider making a gift to Camp Arcadia in support of our mission to provide renewal in spirit, mind and body for each and every guest.
