The Wonders of Camp Arcadia: Wonder #11

Wonder #11: Mom & Dad Finally Have That Conversation They've Been Meaning to Have For Months

After waiting endlessly for a time when they were both relaxed and ready to discuss the topic at hand, Mom & Dad finally found this moment during their week at Camp. On a walk around town after dinner, the couple found they had space to think and listen to one another with open hearts and attitudes. “There are just some things we need to talk about,” stated Mom, “… things that can’t be fully figured out in the small bits and pieces of time we’ve had these past few months.”

After a disastrous attempt at this same conversation a month ago during their youngest son’s away baseball tournament, they were hesitant to return to the metaphorical table. However, after several relaxing days, simple rhythms of family time and spiritual formation, they found they were ready to give it another try.

Gratefully, both parents called the conversation a “game-changer” – a win for their marriage and their family. “We needed this,” remarked Dad.
