Opening Weekend 2012

Ryan Riechle transports sand to the new Ga-Ga Ball pit located to the left of the basketball court behind the Craft Shop.

An estimated 190 staff and volunteers prepared Camp Arcadia for its 90th season during Opening Weekend 2012. Families of all ages came to camp and completed a variety of tasks. Assignments included planting flowers, clearing debris from the winter storm, washing windows, trimming trees, cleaning guest rooms and organizing Trading Post merchandise.

Several other projects were completed. A larger, permanent Ga-Ga Ball pit now sits to the left of the basketball court. Guests played during breaks and it worked quite well. The Trading Post and housekeeping storage areas received new shelving, while the dining room walls were re-painted. Coffeemakers will be placed on cabinetry in the Assembly and Reading Room for guests to enjoy throughout the day.

We are especially blessed and thankful for everyone who spent their holiday weekend working at Camp Arcadia. Without the help, we would not have been able to accomplish everything. We look forward to seeing everyone this summer, starting with the Golf and the Gospel Retreat on June 2.
