We did it! In one of the most challenging years in Camp Arcadia’s almost 100 year history, you, the Arcadia family, stood up for Arcadia’s ministry and declared that it mattered.
Equipped by God with faith, loyalty and determination, you were there with your prayers, encouragement, service, and gifts. As a result Camp Arcadia will end up in the black for 2020, which is a miracle considering we suffered a 70% decline in registration income due to the pandemic. We will not have to borrow any money to cover operating expenses in 2020.
Your generous and unwavering support has enabled Camp Arcadia to respond well to these crisis situations. Many camps would not have survived the past few years, but we did because God continues to work through you to preserve Camp Arcadia’s ministry.
Here is how it happened:
Savings – Camp’s leadership conserved expenses through staff reductions (elimination of a full-time staff position) and a careful line by line analysis of Camp’s operational expenses to find savings.
Record Setting Generosity – Camp’s 2020 Annual Campaign received a record amount of donations totaling around $555,000. This is more than double the 2019 amount ($237,000), which was also a record.
Deposits to Donations – Camp received close to $110,000 in deposits that were converted to donations by guests who could not come to Camp due to the pandemic.
PPP Loan – Camp is in the process of applying for full forgiveness of our $137,000 PPP loan that we received last spring. Everything we know indicates that we should receive it.
2020 Lite Season – Even though the season was “lite” and registrations were only 30% of our normal season, it was crucial to Camp’s financial position to be able to host some guests at Camp.
Arcadia Foundation – The Arcadia Foundation distributed a record amount, $35,561, to Camp Arcadia to help cover the loss of revenue and the cost of the dewatering system.
In 2020 we were able to preserve Camp’s buildings and property with additional lakefront protection, install a dewatering system that prevented our buildings from flooding, and in the midst of a global pandemic were able to provide meaningful and life-giving retreat experiences for families and adults.
Your generous and unwavering support has enabled Camp Arcadia to respond well to these crisis situations. Many camps would not have survived the past few years, but we did because God continues to work through you to preserve Camp Arcadia’s ministry.
Thank you for your generosity and devotion to Camp Arcadia’s ministry.
