Thank you so much for your prayers and support for Camp as we’ve spent time this fall looking for our new Assistant Director. Camp Arcadia received 10 applications for the Assistant Director position. Chip had conversations with all ten of the applicants. He, along with Ali Franke, LCA Board Vice President, and Rachel Catanese, Business Director, conducted six in-depth candidate interviews.
We are thrilled to announce that Michelle (Shelly) Gallo has accepted the position of Assistant Director and will begin working full-time for Camp Arcadia in January 2025. Shelly is married to her husband, Jeff, and they have three children: Lorelai (18), Xander (17) and Janae (15). She will serve on-site during the season, but work remotely in the offseason from Bloomfield Hills, MI.
Shelly has a long history with Camp Arcadia – as a teen and family retreat guest, a summer staffer, Program Director/Interim Director at Camp from 1997-2000, and Teen Retreat Counselor! Safe to say, Camp Arcadia is already a dearly loved place for Shelly and her family. Furthermore, her knowledge of Camp’s operations and culture will make her an asset to our management team.

In addition to her love for Camp, Shelly brings a wealth of experience with her to this position. She currently serves primarily as a franchise owner and instructor at the Jazzercise Troy Fitness Center where she oversees all aspects of the studio including scheduling, professional development, upholding quality standards and corporate compliance, marketing, special events and staff wellness. She has also served as a Physical Therapy Assistant, Wedding Hostess Coordinator and Dance & Health Educator.
Shelly brings strengths in organization, relationship building, communication, and ministry focus to this position, and we look forward to seeing all the ways Camp Arcadia’s ministry will be blessed through her.
