Meet Camp Arcadia’s Leadership

Executive Director

Chip May

Chip May has served on the leadership team as the Executive Director of Camp Arcadia since 2000. He grew up in New Baltimore, MI, but calls Arcadia, MI home. He and his wife, Sarah, have three children. Chip is an avid fisherman and cycler. His favorite thing about Camp is bringing people to rest in the beauty of God’s creation.

Assistant Director

Shelly Gallo

Shelly Gallo is the new Assistant Director of Camp Arcadia, starting in January 2025. She lives in Bloomfield Hills, MI with her husband Jeff and her two younger children, Xander and Janae. Her oldest daughter, Lorelai, is at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa, WI.

Registrar and Business Director

Rachel Catanese

Rachel Catanese is Camp’s Registrar and Business Director, serving on the leadership team since 2010. She, husband Sam, and son Nelson live in Arcadia, MI with their dog Zeke. She loves living near the big lake, enjoys running, walking and generally being outside.

Development Director

Sarah Olson

Sarah Olson is the Development Director, with emphasis on both Camp’s fundraising and communication efforts, serving on the leadership team since 2021. She and her husband, Tanner, live in Nashville, TN with their son, Judah, and their goldendoodle, Pancake. Sarah enjoys trying new restaurants, spending time with friends, walking Pancake, and curating her “Best of” Nashville list (she’ll share it with you!). Sarah’s favorite thing about Camp is the simplicity and abundance of life in Arcadia, even in the midst of full and busy days.

Facilities Director

Franco Marano

Franco Marano is Camp Arcadia’s Facilities Director (Caretaker), serving since 2013. He lives onsite at Camp Arcadia with his wife, Callie, and their two sons, Niko and Fiero. He enjoys working on and riding jet skis.

Chef & Food Service Director

Kyle Toms

Kyle Toms is Camp Arcadia’s Chef and Food Service Director, who served his first summer in 2023. Kyle and his wife, Jenna, live in Frankfort with their four kids. Kyle enjoys coaching youth sports in Frankfort including baseball, football and wrestling. He is enjoying learning more about Camp’s rich history and being surrounded by the gorgeous scenery at Camp.

Archives Director

Ryan McKenna

Ryan McKenna is Camp Arcadia’s Archives Director. He has served on staff since 1990 and lives in Rochester, NY in the offseason. Ryan loves preserving Camp Arcadia’s rich history, as we can stay connected to our RKD legacy and look forward to the next 100 years. 

Summer Program Director

Stephanie Jass

Stephanie Jass is Camp Arcadia’s Summer Program Director. She lives in Tecumseh, MI with her husband, Doug. She has two grown stepsons and two cats. Steph is a seven-time Jeopardy! champion, and loves crafting in her free time. Summer 2023 was her first in this role, but she has served 9 years in other roles at Camp. Steph’s favorite thing about Camp is its long history of creating connections to God and others… and also, THE CRAFT SHOP!

Archery Specialist

Karl Weber

Karl Weber is our Archery Specialist. He has served Camp in this capacity since 2016. Karl and his wife, Dawn, live in Rochester Hills, MI and have three grown children. During the offseason, Karl is a math teacher at Lutheran High School Northwest.

Ark Supervisor

Janice McCraner

Janice McCraner is the beloved Ark Supervisor at Camp Arcadia. She has been charming our preschoolers with her adventures and kind heart since 1999. Janice and her husband, Tom, are longtime residents of Arcadia, MI, and have two grown sons and two grandchildren.

Craft Shop Director

Kris Park

Kris Park is the Craft Shop Director and has served in this role since 2010. She resides in Ann Arbor, MI with her husband, Steve, and they have three grown children. In the offseason, she works for the Pioneer Theatre Guild creating props and decorating sets. Kris’ favorite thing about Camp is reuniting with old friends and meeting new ones.

Facilities Assistant

Caleb Hoppe

Caleb Hoppe is Camp’s Facilities Assistant and serves in this role year-round. He is originally from Blue Island, IL, but has called Arcadia, MI home since 2021.
