Workflow
As an hourly, non-exempt employee you would be regularly scheduled to work around 39 hours per week. Any hours over 40 would be paid overtime (1.5x). There will be times that you will be required to work more than 40 hours, probably close to 50 hours per week. The peak times for the facility department are during opening of the buildings in the spring and the closing of them in the fall.
A typical workday is from 9 am – 5 pm with an hour off for lunch. Hours might vary as projects and circumstances change. You would be expected to be reached by cell phone during work hours and after hours as needs arise. You will have two days off per week. During the summer season (Memorial Day until the start of Labor Day Weekend) these days off will not be consecutive and will be taken during the week. During the summer season our guests transition on the weekend, therefore we use this time to fix broken items and conduct maintenance projects that are best done without guests around. The rest of the year your weekly days off will generally be Saturday and Sunday.
Camp Arcadia’s operating season (when we are serving guests) is from the end of May through the end of October. In November we close down all of Camp’s main buildings except the office and the maintenance barn.
