Sarah May is working with Camp to collect stories and memories of the Camp Arcadia experience all season long. She has seen that everyone has a Camp story to tell – no matter whether they’re a generational guest or a first-time camper! Sarah lives in Arcadia, MI, with her husband Chip and their three children.
What makes Camp Arcadia so special? I got to ask this question to over 40 guests this summer through video interviews. I interviewed spouses, siblings, friends, grandparents, parents, and their children to better understand the impact of Camp and the thousands of memories that this beloved place holds.
It was inspiring to hear the many reasons why guests return year after year. For many, Camp Arcadia is their favorite place. It’s where they can find rest and feel free to be their true selves. It’s a place of joy and delight. It’s a constant. It’s faith-filled. It’s home. It’s togetherness.
The community formed at Camp sets it apart from any other vacation spot. Being together with family and friends in this Christ-centered community deepens relationships. For many guests, their favorite memories involve adventures with friends, family traditions, or times when they connected with staff.
Togetherness is infused throughout the Camp experience, whether you are square dancing, sitting on the beach, or sharing a meal. Camp gives families a chance to slow down and connect with each other while forging friendships with others.
In the coming weeks, we will share these heartwarming stories of togetherness. You will learn how two kids stumped Camp’s historian in an epic trivia battle and how a late night swim brings a family together.
We hope you enjoy these videos sharing stories of how Camp brings generations together, celebrating how the staff have served us, reminiscing about the fun of Camp, and reflecting on how we are all united by our faith.
