Every year, it takes a dedicated group of volunteers to open up Camp in preparation for the summer season. This year was no exception! Most of Camp Arcadia’s landscaping beds were replanted and rearranged, hundreds of flowers were planted, and special projects were completed all around Camp over Memorial Day weekend. A huge thank you to the many volunteers who gave of their time and talents!

It was truly a blessed weekend. Love playing in the dirt! Thank you Dear Lord for smiling faces, busy hands and delicious meals. Hugs and blessings to all
I am sorry that I couldn’t be there with you. I have now missed the last two Opening Weekends and last fall’s Closing Weekend. Covid concerns and other commitments. Wishing Camp and its campers an outstanding summer. God’s blessings to all. I hope to visit soon and to be there for closing.
Nothing better than fresh air, a beautiful setting, good food and a spirit of companionship between old friends and ” just met” friends. I feel very blessed to have had the privilege of joining the crew.
It is such a wonderful transformation that takes place over Memorial Day weekend. I have attended a great many open up weekends since the early 1970’s and have always enjoyed the hard work and Christian fellowship. I would venture to say that our efforts have made the softball diamond look the best that it has in years.
Our parents, Herb and Wilma Beineke (Indianapolis) and uncle, Paul Schakel (St. Claire Shores), helped with opening and closing of camp many years. They always looked forward to this time to meet up with each other as well as seeing old friends. They came home tired, but so happy to serve in this way. All of them had started coming to Camp in the late 1930s. They would be so pleased to see all the changes at Camp today.
