Camp Arcadia is excited to announce that Jess McCallum, Camp’s program director, has been promoted to Assistant Director (AD). Jess has served as the program director for the last five years and will be the first person to fill the assistant director position. She has distinguished herself as a strong leader who has balanced her strengths as an organized project manager and her ability to nurture and develop others.
Last season, without the operations director role filled, Jess took a lead as we navigated running Camp during the pandemic. Not only did she do a masterful job creating a safe and engaging program experience, but she organized our reduced seasonal staff efforts to achieve our mission.
In the assistant director role Jess will coordinate Camp’s operations including seasonal staff hiring, in-season operations and provide leadership, direction, and management of camp’s programs and retreats. As the AD she will work with our other management team members to make sure we continue to meet our mission to our guests and our staff.
“I am very excited for Jess to take on this new role as the assistant director. Her ability to organize, create systems and to follow through on them will benefit our staff and guests. She also brings a passion for Camp’s ministry and a desire to develop our college-aged summer staff.” said executive director, Chip May.
As the assistant director she will still be in charge of creating and implementing Camp’s program, but there are plans to hire a summer program director who will take a lead in coordinating the day to day of Camp’s programming.
“I am excited to step into the role of assistant director; this is something that both fits my skill set and will challenge me simultaneously. It is a blessing to continue to serve the Camp Arcadia community!” commented Jess on her new role.
Please join us in welcoming Jess to her new role at Camp Arcadia.
