Kurt (1)
It is with great thanksgiving and a little sadness that we announce that Kurt Harvey, Camp Arcadia’s long time chef, has made the decision to resign effective May 5, 2017. “I am sincerely grateful to have had the opportunity to serve Camp Arcadia for the past twenty one years, and heartily wish for its continued success. I have learned a great deal through my tenure, and will reflect fondly on this time and the incredible people who serve and vacation at Camp Arcadia.” said Kurt.  He continues, Kristine and I will continue to live in our home in Arcadia and hope to be welcomed by the Camp Arcadia community as town residents and as members of the Lutheran Camp Association.”
Chip May, Camp’s Executive director had this to say about Kurt’s years of service, “Kurt Harvey has spent the last 21 years transforming Camp Arcadia’s meal time into the pinnacle of the Arcadia experience. We give thanks to God for the years of service he gave to Camp Arcadia. Kurt put his heart and soul into working with hundreds of people in the kitchen to create an amazing dining experience. I wish him all the best in his next chapter in life”

We thank Kurt for his service to Camp Arcadia’s ministry. Camp has benefited from his incredible leadership and professionalism, his dedication to mentoring and developing summer staff, his amazing homemade meals, and his attention to the creation of a true family dining experience.

Stan Scheumann, President of the Lutheran Camp Association’s board of directors, reflects on Kurt’s service,  “Camp Arcadia has indeed been blessed these past 21 years through the faithful service of Chef Kurt Harvey.  On behalf of the board of directors for the Lutheran Camp Association, I wish to share how proud we are of Kurt and his accomplishments during his years of service to the guests, the staff, and the visitors. Kurt has certainly raised the bar on food service at Camp Arcadia. His leadership in the kitchen, his planning skills, his mentoring of the seasonal staff, and his great attention to serving wonderful meals to our guests are the elements that made for a terrific RKD experience for our guests during their stay at Camp.  We pray that Kurt’s future will continue with much more success and God’s great blessings.”

Please join us as we give thanks to God for Kurt and for his service to Camp Arcadia.  We pray that God will continue to bless Kurt as he works at Common Good Bakery, a neighborhood bread bakery in the heart of Traverse City that is scheduled to open mid-2017.

Next week we will share information about the search for Camp’s new food service director.
