Shoveling accumulated snow is not my favorite task. I’d worked late, it was going to be dark, and while I love winter otherwise, I was exhausted from a long week. Six inches of snow on the driveway was looming over me as I headed home and mentally geared up for the task ahead. Then, upon arriving, I found the plowed driveway! I still don’t know by whom. Exhausted and weary, someone’s kindness interrupted my winter weather blues leaving me feeling loved, cared for and welcomed home.
In the winters of our lives, when we are surrounded by the cold, the dark and the accumulating “snow”, we can rejoice knowing that God, too, interrupts our exhaustion and work with unexpected paths of grace that continually welcome us home.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for reminding us that you are ever-present in our lives and often through the kindness of others. Help us to see you in unexpected graces and to serve you in grace toward others. Amen.
