Spiritual Disciplines for the Spiritually Exhausted

When we mistake spiritual disciplines for to-dos, time slots on our schedule, or Instagram-able moments, we miss the benefits of Christ’s continual and constant work for us. This weekend we will reclaim spiritual disciplines as good gifts given by our good Father, instead of heavy burdens of performance carried by the Christian. Only when we recognize our failure to maintain God’s commands do we also realize the benefit of our dependence on his promises. It is good to grow in dependence on Christ who is not just the author, but the perfecter of our faith.

Gretchen is a mother to six kids who are quickly growing into adults. Her family lives in western Minnesota. Gretchen works as a writer and enjoys knitting, reading many books at the same time, and embarrassing her teenagers in public.

Finding a Balance

Here’s the question…is Martha really the “bad sister”? What if I am a “Martha”?! We’ll look at three events in Scripture that describe the faith of both Mary and Martha and the lesson Jesus was teaching. Then, we’ll look at our own journey of faith and service and how we find the balance!

Jan is truly blessed to serve the Lord as a popular speaker for Bible studies, workshops, and women’s retreats, as well as numerous district and national LWML conventions. With over 40 years of experience in teaching, motivating, and entertaining her audiences, Jan brings a fresh approach to the journey of faith and uses her sense of humor as she shares her life with fellow travelers and leaves them laughing. Her trust and faith in Christ is her reason to make a “joyful noise unto God!”
