Tuesday night Trivia has become a standout hit during Family Weeks. Launched during the pandemic, this program has quickly become a Camp favorite for all ages. It started as a Fall Confirmation Retreat trivia game… which turned into a beloved fixture on the weekly schedule.
Arcadia Family Trivia brings grandparents, parents, and kids together to compete as a team in one of Camp’s most inclusive and interactive evening events. Hosted in the Assembly by Program Director and former Jeopardy! Champion Stephanie Jass, the program captures the energy of a real game show.

Steph shares, “Families love Trivia Night because there’s something for everyone. It hits the sweet spot between clever, challenging questions and pure fun—with dance parties, bonus spins, and random stuff that keeps every generation engaged.”
Each week, teams compete in five distinct categories. Three core categories remain the same each week with brand-new questions, while the remaining two categories rotate. This ever changing rotation keeps the game fresh, allowing summer-long cottagers to play week after week without seeing the same questions twice.
The core lineup begins with “Paying Attention,” which focuses on fun facts about Camp that attentive guests would know by Tuesday—such as what happens right after dinner, the total number of swings, or the age limit for Tot Treats.
Next is “Mini-ha-has,” a play on words honoring the Minnehaha shipwreck that hit the shores of Arcadia over 100 years ago. This category challenges each team to create a punchline to a classic dad joke. While there is an official answer, Program Staff serve as judges and may award points to any punchline funny enough to make them laugh.
Finally, “Super Easy” features straightforward questions with a physical twist: one representative from each team comes to the front for a playful challenge—like singing a song, flipping a coin, drawing a card, or competing in a Rock, Paper, Scissors showdown. These challenges help to level the playing field by adding an element of pure luck to the game.
The other two categories change weekly and usually feature a clever twist on a Camp-related word. Recent highlights include “Shelly” (a nod to Assistant Director Shelly Gallo, but with questions focused on sea shells), “Camp Bell” (trivia about famous people named Campbell), “TP” (centered on famous figures sharing those initials), and “Inn or Out” (where players determine whether a specific event or feature takes place inside the Inn or not).
To keep the energy high, a Program staffer plays music, complete with a mandatory dance break that gets everyone on their feet. Summer crowd-pleasers like Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” and Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the U.S.A.” turn the Assembly into a lively dance party.
Younger guests get in on the action too. Before the final question of each category, a kid is chosen to spin the bonus wheel to determine how many extra points are up for grabs, which keeps every team in contention for the win.
The game concludes with a unique (and not well known) twist: the answer to the final question is decided entirely by popular vote! Whether choosing between popcorn vs. potato chips, odd vs. even, or cake vs. pie, teams must guess how the majority of the room will vote, adding an element of unpredictability to the finish.
When the final tally is in, the winning team claims bragging rights as Trivia Champions along with free Trading Post treats. It is a fantastic way for families to spend an evening together—sharing random knowledge, showing off dance moves, and making memories.
